European Repair Cafés are starting to pop-up in United States!

Have you ever hidden away treasured possessions that you hoped to one day restore it back to its glory days? Well, you’re not the only ones. Amateurs, enthusiast, and experts alike are gathering to repair cafés to help each other revive belongings that need fixing. There, you’ll be able to find different tools, materials, and expert volunteers to help you on your mission, but that doesn’t mean your items are guaranteed to be fixed.

These locations are usually hosted at church basements, libraries, town halls, and senior centers. In Europe, there are actually over 1,400 repair cafés scattered throughout 20 plus European countries. United States has picked up traction with 59 locations throughout 21 states, with a higher concentration in the northeast and northwest of the country. We actually have two locally here in Maryland as well, one in Laurel and one in Greenbelt.

So, what is this all really for? The movement is actually for the purpose of decreasing the amount of things people are unnecessarily disposing of. We have become a society of throwing things away and buying a new one. Which down the line, would mean increasing the amount of waste going into the landfills and the amount of carbon footprint that we are all leaving behind.

If you don’t have the time or patience to renew the lifespan of your belongings, at least help decrease the amount of things that are being thrown away by purchasing refurbished.

To do our part in saving space in landfills and reducing our carbon footprint on society, Innovative offers a wide range of refurbished office machines including copiers, printers, and shredders
